The Zojirushi NP-HBC10 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker: Beans And Meat Recipe

This cold October weekend I was looking for something good to eat.  I really didn’t feel like cooking.  I had to think what to make since my girlfriend and her son would be hanging out with me this weekend and it was my turn to cook.  She cooks through the week and I cook on the weekends.  It’s an unfair deal because it takes a miracle for me to choke her food down, but they like everything I make.  Oh well, what you can do.

What I decided to make was something we can eat off of for the whole day (Saturday).  This is where my rice cooker comes in handy.  If you ask your self which rice cooker is good for making lots of rice then all of them will work. However, if you want a good quality rice recipe then I would say go with the Zojirushi brand. I like this brand because it can make a lot of different rices.  It can make an array of rice recipes with brown rice, sticky rice, white rice; you name it. It is a good looking device.  It’s digital read out is easy to see and the stainless steel wipes up nicely.  Everything is included with this rice cooker it comes with a manual, spatula, and measuring cup.  When the rice is done cooking it will switch over to warm mode and warm for 12 – 48 hrs.  The 48 hrs is the extended warm time.  All you do is turn it on and when it is ready to cook it starts cooking.  Just add the rice to the measured lines in the bowl and cup.

What is cool about these cookers is they can act as mini-crock pots.  With my beans and meat recipe I add a mixture of hamburger and turkey meat to the rice white it is cooking.  When the cooker switches over to warm mode it continues to keep the meat warm.  I mix the water with a can of bushes baked beans to cook the rice in.  This way when the water bowls off I have a thick mixture of beans and meat and rice.  If you want to add a little vegetable to the rice in rice cooker go ahead.  I recommend corn. This will really stick to your ribs.

I put this little recipe together around 10 am.  When lunch time rolls around there will be enough for all three of us to eat; I will get some buttered pumpernickel to go along with mine but you can use rolls or whatever.  When dinner rolls around I plan on eating this again. I don’t know what the old lady and junior are going to do.  If they are hungry they will eat this! If this sounds good to you think follow the links and get your rice cooker today!
